Unity Day

๐Ÿงก STAND TOGETHER. STAND ORANGE. STAND AGAINST BULLYING. ๐Ÿงก

Every October, Cicero District 99 is proud to join the national movement for Unity Day 2025 โ€” a day to stand up, speak out, and show solidarity in the fight against bullying. On Wednesday, Oct. 22, we're calling on every student, staff member, and community partner to wear orange or white as a bold visual symbol: one one stands alone.

Unity Day is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month, started by PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center (NBPC). The color orange is associated with safety, visibility, warmth, and inclusion โ€” a bright, noticeable reminder that bullying has no place in our schools or neighborhoods. When we all wear orange, we send a powerful, unified message: we care, we see you, and we choose kindness.

Bullying, in some cases, leave long-term scars on confidence, mental health, and learning. By uniting against it, we say: we refuse to be silent. The simple act of wearing orange shows those impacted by bullying that they are not alone, and encourages bystanders to step up. It also invites conversation โ€” among families, in classrooms, and across the community โ€” about respect, inclusion, empathy, and standing up for one another.

So let's wear orange or white on Wednesday, Oct. 22 โ€” it's small, easy, and impactful. Lets talk with our kids, our families, and our friends about what it means to stand up to bullying. How can we support someone who is being bullied? What does kindness look like in our daily actions? If you see bullying, or sense someone is hurting, act. Report concerns, offer support, or just lend a listening ear.

As we move forward together, let's make Oct. 22 a day of bold unity. Let's make our halls, our classrooms, and our homes places where every person feels seen, valued, and safe.ย

๐Ÿ“ข Will you join us?
